Plastic netting manufacturer Conwed will be showcasing some of its latest innovations at IDEA13. Visitors to Booth 1329 will have the opportunity to see, touch and feel the newest elastic nonwoven composites powered by Rebound elastomeric netting. The company touts them an excellent alternative to spandex and stretch-film composites used in hygiene, medical and therapeutic applications.

“Our business is in constant evolution. We recognized the need to facilitate the adoption of our elastomeric netting as many manufacturers are already set up to process spandex and stretch films but have limitations to integrate netting,” says Ivan Soltero, strategic marketing manager, Conwed. “By offering a material that incorporates our elastomeric netting with a lightweight nonwoven, we help manufacturers simplify the integration of our materials into their manufacturing processes.”

Conwed considers waistbands, side panels, bandages and wraps in hygiene, medical and therapeutic applications ideal for these elastic composites. 

“For example, in adult incontinence underwear, we see consumers asking for reliable yet more breathable and comfortable products that fit into their active lifestyles,” says Soltero. “Our open mesh configuration and ability to customize hysteresis performance in one or both directions give these composites unique features that help manufacturers create exceptional products for this segment of the hygiene market.”

In addition to these elastic composites, Conwed will display non-elastic, reinforcement applications with other substrates such as film, foam, foil, paper and nonwoven fabrics. The company says these composites bring superior strength and lightweight product design to an array of applications.
